Day 80 – Near The Pinnacle to PA 309

Since Trippy was feeling better, we went back out to the trail to try to finish up this local section. We are hiking some of these sections here in PA out of sequence. We also made the strategic decision to skip the local sections of trail that we hiked back in March and April for training considering we hiked them this calendar year with full pack weight anyway. It’s something like 15-20 miles.

Anyway, this hike had all of the highlights of the AT in Eastern Pennsylvania – big rocks, small rocks, and snakes.

Annoying big rocks

The snake was hanging out on Balanced Rocks. We had lunch there since the rocks were dry. I guess the snake had the same idea.

YouTube video and audio of snake rattling at me.

The current plan is to take it day by day and make sure Trippy is fully recovered.

Vital stats:
Miles hiked today – ~15 on the AT, plus a couple more on the side trail from Reservoir Road.
Mood – not rattled at all
Smell – pretty good, taking full advantage of the luxuries of plumbing while in range of home
Song stuck in my head – Badger Badger Badger
